PYSO Tour 2020
We’ve been invited to perform as one of the four select auditioned ensembles in the Beethoven 250 Orchestra Festival, taking place in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria on Sunday, June 28, 2020. This Festival is part of the official 250th Anniversary of the birth of Ludwig von Beethoven, one of classical music’s most influential and celebrated composers.
We have the opportunity to:
  • Perform in one of the world’s most prestigious concert halls
  • In a significant and meaningful way, pay homage to one of classical music’s most celebrated composers
  • Visit Beethoven sites including homes, venues, memorials, gravesite, and the places that inspired his music
  • Experience the thrill of performing to a large, enthusiastic, and appreciative audience in Vienna
  • Experience unparalleled educational opportunities and memories that will last a lifetime

Please keep in mind that this tour will be for musicians enrolled in Symphony or Philharmonic for our 19-20 season and all current students will need to re-audition and be accepted into these ensembles to be eligible to go on this tour. 

Retreats/Tours are expected and encouraged for all our students, but not mandatory.
DAY ONE: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2020
  • Depart via scheduled air service to Vienna, Austria
DAY TWO: THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 2020
  • Arrive in Vienna
  • Meet our tour manager and get into chartered motorcoaches
  • Stop at the Vienna City Cemetery to visit the graves of Beethoven, Strauss, Brahms, Schubert, and the Mozart Memorial
  • Take a short panoramic tour of Vienna that acquaints visitors with the main attractions and landmarks
  • Late afternoon hotel check-in
  • Evening Welcome Dinner included, and overnight
DAY THREE: FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 2020
  • Breakfast included at the hotel
  • Half-day guided tour of Historical Vienna includes the Ringstráße, Imperial Palace, State Opera, Town Hall, Burgkapelle (home of the Vienna Boys Choir), Palace Stables, Strauß Monument, and entrance to Schönbrunn Palace, built by the Hapsburgs in imitation of Versailles
  • Lunch, on own
  • Afternoon half-day guided tour of Musical Vienna includes entrance to the Haus der Musik (House of Music), a modern interactive sound museum located in the historic city center. This tour also includes the Museum of the Vienna Philharmonic, which is part of the House of Music, and the Beethoven Heligenstadt apartment
  • Evening dinner included, and overnight
DAY FOUR: SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 2020
  • Breakfast included at the hotel
  • Rehearsal in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein
  • Excursion to Kahlenberg to walk the Beethoven trail, and visit the Vienna woods
  • Lunch, on own
  • Next, visit the Pasqualati House (Beethoven residence) and Museum
  • Evening dinner included, and overnight
DAY FIVE: SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 2020
  • Breakfast included at the hotel
  • Warm-up in the Grand Hall of the Musikverein
  • Lunch, on own
  • Afternoon time at leisure
  • Evening dinner included
  • Festival Concert at Musikverein in Vienna
  • Overnight at the hotel
DAY SIX: MONDAY, JUNE 29, 2020
  • Breakfast included at the hotel
  • Excursion to Eisenstadt. Everything in Eisenstadt reminds one of the brilliant composer Franz Joseph Haydn. Entrance is included to Esterhazy Palace with its Haydnsaal, where many of Haydn’s works were premiered, and also to Haydn’s -House, which is now a museum
  • Lunch, on own
  • Afternoon return to Vienna for afternoon time at leisure
  • Evening Farewell Dinner included, and overnight
DAY SEVEN: TUESDAY, JUNE 30, 2020
  • Breakfast included at the hotel, followed by check-out
  • Transfer to the Vienna Airport for return flight home

Cost:

The Beethoven 250 Orchestra Festival tour will take place over the course of 5 nights/7 days in Vienna.

Costs cover airline transportation, coach transportation, accommodations in 3-4 star hotels with double occupancy, meals that include daily breakfast and dinner, entrance fees and excursions, gratuities, and travel/liability insurance is included.

Pricing for this tour will be dependent upon the number of students confirmed and will not be increasing.

Estimate: $4,500/person

$200 per person (non refundable) deposit due before July 1, 2019
