Mozart’s stormy Symphony No. 40 headlines this colorful program with Grieg’s Piano Concerto performed by Cuban pianist Aldo López-Gavilán, hailed as “a genius” by the Seattle Times for his “dazzling technique and rhythmic fire.”
Plus, the orchestra performs Composers Showcase artist Adam-Schoenberg’s “Finding Rothko,” described by the Aspen Times as a “colorful orchestration, rich in textures and a sense of power similar to the painter’s work.” The Emmy Award-winning and Grammy-nominated composer is among the top 10 most performed living composers in the US.
Aldo López-Gavilán performs “Epilogo” featuring Josh Bell at Lincoln Center.
“Emporium” by Aldo López-Gavilán, conductor Scott Speck and the West Michigan Symphony.
