The Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestras (PYSO) offers a place for young musicians to learn, grow, and make music together.
Our program includes seven audition-based ensembles designed for students at different levels: Prelude Strings, String Orchestra, Overture Strings, Wind Ensemble, Symphony, Sinfonia, and Philharmonic. These ensembles serve students in grades 6 through 12, and each student is placed in the group that best supports their growth.
For younger students, our All City Orchestra program provides tuition-free, weekly group lessons for strings, woodwind, and brass students in grades 4 through 6 who are currently participating in a school music program in the Pasadena Unified School District. This program helps build strong musical foundations and prepares students for future participation in PYSO ensembles.
We encourage all interested students and families to explore the ensemble requirements and expectations.
