Bass Clarinet

Ralph Williams plays the family of clarinets. Mr. Williams over his long and illustrious career has played with many fine orchestras, opera orchestras and chamber groups. Mr. Williams is the bass clarinetist with the Pasadena Symphony (1980-present). He is also the bass clarinetist with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra (1996-present). He was principal clarinetist with the Opera Pacific Orchestra (1994-2010) and with the Pasadena POPS (1989-2011). Over the years he has worked with Hollywood’s finest composers and has recorded for over 700 films. Composers Mr. Williams has worked for include, John Williams: Star Wars, BFG, War Horse, War of the Worlds and Home Alone; Hans Zimmer: Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2, and 3 and The Simpsons Movie; Thomas Newman: Finding Dory and Finding Nemo; Danny Elfman: Alice in Wonderland, Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice; Chris Beck: Frozen and many others. Mr. Williams has recorded for many TV shows including Agents of Shield, Jag, Murder She Wrote, Loony Tunes, Deep Space Nine, Knots Landing and Fantasy Island. He has also recorded on the albums of many famous artists including Paul McCartney, James Taylor, Barbara Streisand, Kenny G, Andrea Bocelli and Natalie Cole. Mr. Williams has recorded the Carl Nielsen Clarinet Concerto Op. 57 on the Eclectic album. He has also recorded Patrice William’s Edda Concerto Op. 60 for bass clarinet and orchestra on the Too Eclectic album. Both albums are available on iTunes and all digital formats.
