All City Orchestra is an education initiative launched by the Pasadena Symphony Association in 2012 for students of the Pasadena Unified School District. The program provides small group and full ensemble based learned for 4th and 5th graders of the PUSD. This past spring, the students of the All City Orchestra performed at the Ambassador Auditorium, the home of the Pasadena Symphony and considered the “Carnegie Hall of the West.”
Admission into the All City Orchestra is open to Pasadena Unified School District students who are in the 4th or 5th grade. Rehearsals are Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30.
Kyle Smith – All City Orchestra Conductor
Kyle Smith began playing the trumpet in fifth grade under the direction of Jack Taylor. Upon graduating from Temple City High School, he attended California State University, Fullerton, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. While at CSUF, Kyle was also a member of the University Honors Program and the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society. Kyle is currently in his fifth year as one of the Instrumental Music Directors at La Cañada High School, where he teaches both 7th and 8th grade band and orchestra. He is also a member of the teaching staff at Bellis Music Camp, which is a week-long camp held each summer in the Angeles National Forest dedicated to musical and social development of middle school students. He is enjoying his second year with the esteemed Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra and the All-City Orchestra.
